Aurora's Philosophy

Curiosity brought you here.

I think curiosity is one of the most powerful forces in the world. It drives learning, exploration, discovery, growth, and play. It is the reason people open books, ask questions, climb mountains, fall in love, and wander down rabbit holes.

Hypnosis is one of my favorite rabbit holes. Hypnosis is a state of focused attention. Most people have experienced trance before, even if they didn't call it that.
Becoming absorbed in a book.
Losing track of time while working on a project.
Driving home without remembering every turn.
Becoming so immersed in an experience that the rest of the world fades into the background.

Hypnosis simply explores that state intentionally.

All of our experiences are filtered through the brain. Every sensation, memory, emotion, and perception is interpreted there. Reality, as we experience it, is mediated by the mind. Hypnosis allows us to intentionally explore how attention, imagination, expectation, and meaning shape that experience.

Agency is central to everything I do. Agency is your ability to choose for yourself. No hypnotist can give it to you, because it is already yours. No hypnotist can take it away, because it is built into who you are.

You can accept suggestions.
You can reject suggestions.
You can continue.
You can stop.
You choose your path.

I am fascinated by temptation because it is a puzzle. Force is simple.

Temptation is interesting.

Temptation requires understanding. It requires listening. It requires paying attention to what motivates a person, what excites them, what scares them, what they desire, and what they hope to find.

I enjoy resistance.

Not because I want to overcome it.

Because resistance means someone is thinking.
A thoughtful participant is infinitely more interesting than a passive one.
I don't want mindless obedience. I want active participation. I want people who are curious enough to explore, thoughtful enough to question, and confident enough to make their own choices.

The best subjects are curious, communicative, and engaged.

The best hypnotists are collaborative, creative, emotionally intelligent, consent-forward, and kind.

Consent is not a limitation.

Consent is what makes exploration possible.

I believe in consent that is freely given, informed, revocable, and enthusiastic.

People often describe my work as dangerous. I think what they mean is that I see them. I pay attention. I notice patterns. I notice desires. I notice contradictions. I notice the things people want, especially when they are afraid to admit those wants to themselves.

That can feel dangerous. Not because I will take something from them. But because they might discover something true about themselves.

The people who stay are not looking to surrender their agency. They are looking to exercise it.

They are active participants in their own transformation.

Or their own corruption...

Depending on how playful we're feeling that day.

You can resist if you want to.

The question has never been whether you can.

The question is whether you want to.

Curiosity should be rewarded.

Sometimes with knowledge.

Sometimes with adventure.

Sometimes with trouble.

The interesting part is finding out which.
